Last week Thursday, we held our second networking event, titled: Go Beyond Your Reach: Big Tips for Small Businesses. Our intention for this event was to celebrate our merchants and promote community building. We want to stay true to our promise in being more than just a platform for merchants, because when you prosper, so do we!
Through the help of our staff, family and friends, we reached out to both existing and potential merchants with which we knew would be a great opportunity for them to network and leverage themselves, their businesses and their services.
We started the event off with a short introduction and a quick talk about the best way to approach your customers and follow a simple 5 step rule to close any sale. That left us with a great segway into our main speaker, Carol Dysart, the DISC guru! Carol talked to us about how observing one’s behaviour and methods of communication, we can play towards their wants and needs and better serve them as our customer or better sell them as our client. DISC, as we learned is a very powerful tool that can be used far beyond the work environment to better interact with people. Lastly, we finished off the night with a short briefing on what Ferret Card is and why there is even a need for such a program.
By the end of the night, everyone ate and drank to their hearts content and I think it’s safe to say that everyone took at least one thing away from the event. We plan to have many more events like these in hopes of emphasizing that Ferret Card, unlike many other companies and online programs, we actually mean it when we say that we want to support and build the community. We want to give merchants the opportunity to meet new people, share their ideas and ideally walk away with some contact information for people who can either help them achieve their goals or who they can look to help them achieve theirs! You never know who or what you will find but I think one thing we can all agree on is that as long as yo’re open to the possibility, that is more than a good enough place to start.
